A First Glimpse at the 10th International and Interdisciplinary Symposium

The upcoming 10th symposium, Art in Motion – Body of Knowledge, will look at the science behind artistic and athletic skill acquisition, memory and expertise in order to reflect on what we know, how we learn, and which role the body plays in gaining experience and understanding our world. Investigating our movement-based experience and the perception of our actions and interactions provide multiple paths to knowledge, both conscious and unconscious, promoting progress towards better performance, health and well-being. Insights into action-related phenomena in sports, music and dance will inspire innovative training techniques, uncover future paths for scientific research, and lead to a better understanding of our craft and ourselves.

With presentations, posters, performances, workshops, demonstrations, exhibits, and “snacktivities,” this thought-provoking and boundary-crossing event brings together academics and practitioners, providing multiple opportunities to share and receive input in an active exchange with other professionals from fields including music, dance, sports, education, psychology, cognitive neuroscience, medicine, and the natural sciences.
